I can’t tell you how many articles I have read, news reports that I have seen, recent research, all referring the need for ethical leadership, ethical oversight, ethics education, etc.
What is going on here? With all this focus, why aren’t these people/companies, doing anything about it? If a need for this is reported, that means that no one is focused on eliminating that need. Just in the last three days, I have read at least ten articles, a news report of the GOPs in Congress wanting to do away with the independent government ethics office, three research papers on this ethics need. What is going on, with hope for what?
If the need for ethics and ethical leadership is so great, then what is not being provided?Logic dictates that if there is a need and that need is not met, then the need will only get bigger with more serious results.
Enough then, of reporting what is needed ethically in organizations, etc. and do something about it.
If there is an ethics gap, fill it. If ethical leadership is what you need, invest in the training. Quick talking about what is needed and act to eradicate the need.
The caveat is not to just fill a need, but invest in the training and education to eradicate it as a potential future issue. If this is true, then who are your leadership, ethics experts that can train/educate on the tools, insights, creative ideas that can make a difference in peoples’ lives?
Not just anyone can train/educate on ethics! What thought leaders are you bringing as an investment in your people and your culture? If not, I may be reading about your company next!
