I decided to write a part 2 to my last post, due to an interesting comment someone made regarding the question on the possible difference between training and education.
One response was likening the difference between training and education to this analogy. “Would you rather have sex training or sex education?” This comment really made me think.
Would you rather have sales training or a sales education?
Would you rather have leadership training or leadership education?
Would you rather have an ethics trainer or an ethics educator?
How would you define the trainer and educator roles in each of the above?
Maybe a few questions might help in the clarification.
1. Would one need a specific type of training or education if one is a trainer or. educator?
2. If so, what would that be?
3. How would the approach to training be different from education?
For the sake of further discussion and thought, ponder these additional questions.
1. Is education, based on training or is training based on education?
2. Are there more resources for training than education?
3. What would be the ROI for each and how would the ROI be evaluated?
So is training the same as educating?
